The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is seeking a workgroup leader for its bovine tuberculosis (bTB) immunology and vaccines team.
The salary range for the role is £57,316 - £64,380 and the deadline for applications is 11:55p.m on Friday, August 23.
The workgroup leader will be responsible for the scientific, resourcing and staffing leadership of the bTB immunology and vaccines team within the Department of Bacteriology.
The chosen candidate will need to have an undergraduate degree and PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with significant postdoctoral and leadership experience.
The APHA bTB immunology and vaccines team delivers the applied research element of the bTB portfolio providing evidence in support of policy.
As well as this, the team provides scientific support to diagnostics/surveillance and national and international reference laboratories.
The postholder will lead the team in resourcing and delivery, provide leadership in people management, and ensure the delivery of science across the workgroup in an appropriate environment according to relevant Health & Safety and Quality standards.
The chosen candidate will also be expected to maintain/develop an area of personal science expertise relevant to the workgroup activities.
The chosen candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills, APHA said, and will need experience of managing and resourcing a significant scientific team.
