The Scottish region of the National Sheep Association (NSA) has said Scotland's sheep farmers will have the chance to maximise their knowledge and understanding of optimum flock health at its first NSA Scotland field day.

The event, which will feature industry experts, will take place on Tuesday, October 31, and is sponsored by Elanco.

The NSA Scotland field day will be held at the Scott family's Fearn Farm on the Easter Ross Peninsula.

The day will allow visitors to view real-time demonstrations with the farm’s flock of commercial sheep chance to and meet with fellow sheep producers.

NSA Scotland said a series of small interactive workshops will form the basis of the day allowing attendees to gain the very best speaking with, and learning from, industry experts.Workshop sessions will cover a range of topics, and include:

A butchery demonstration led by Gordon Newlands, the brand development manager of Quality Meat Scotland (QMS);
'Looking after your business' led by Virgin Money, Stephen Buchan, Shearwell Data and John Scott of FarmStrong Scotland;
'Maximising available resources' led by Ieuan Davis and Megan Pedley of Agrimin;
'Positive health and welfare planning' led by Lucy Rogers of Foundry Vets;
'Best practice on farm' led by Elanco and Techion UK Ltd;
'Genetics and marketing' led by Neil and Debbie McGowan of Incheoch Farm.

NSA Scotland chair Peter Myles said: “NSA Scotland is very much looking forward to welcoming new and old faces to the region’s first field day.

Those interested in attending can register to join the field day, which is open to both NSA members and non members, and is free to attend.

The day will conclude with a live cookery demonstration and lamb barbeque, and a chance to network with fellow attendees.
