Silage, straw and hay prices have soared as northern buyer demand for fodder remains high following the wet winter.
As we start the New Year straw prices continue to remain strong as 4X4 round bales are making close to €20/bale across the country.
The straw market has hardened as prices average between €18-20/bale nationwide, a spokesperson for the grain growers association has said.
4X4 round bales of straw can cost as much as bales of hay or silage in some parts of the country.
Straw prices in the western region have increased to as high as €20/bale recently, and even higher in some areas.
High demands for straw has seen the price remain high with 4x4 round bales of straw making between €10-18/bale depending on location.
